John Marino

Chief Marino started as a “junior” firefighter at age 14 in the Elmont Fire department.  In 2003 he officially started his Firematic career in Engine 2 within that department.  In 2006 he joined the Long Beach Fire Department and quickly rose to the rank of Captain of Engine Company 2344. He eventually moved to Hook & Ladder Company #2 where he rose to the rank of Captain in that company as well. Throughout his career he achieved many certifications within the Fire Service Industry including Hazmat, Arson Recognition, Assistant Fire Inspector and CFR. In addition, he has been awarded the Class A Lifesaving Certification for his heroic efforts in 2020. His working knowledge of mechanical equipment, truck maintenance and apparatus have been a tremendous asset within the Long beach Fire Department.

Richard DiGiacomo

Chief DiGiacomo joined the Long Beach Fire Department in 1991 and has been a member of Engine Company 2 and the Tower Ladder. He has held the position of Chief of Department from 2001 to 2003, from 2019 to 2021 and is now in his 3nd time around serving the community as an assistant chief. Chief DiGiacomo has been awarded numerous lifesaving unit citations, as well as a Class B citation from Nassau County.

Hadrick Ray

Engine 2344

Chief Ray joined the Long Beach Fire Department in 1998 and has held the positions of Lieutenant and Captain for Engine Company 4. Chief Ray was awarded a Nassau County Class B Life Saving Citation in 2010 for saving the lives of a mother and child in 2010 during a house fire. He has numerous other awards and trainings through the Nassau County Fire Service Academy.

Joseph Miller

Commissioner Miller has served his community in the Long Beach Fire Department for 32 years. He comes from a long line of Long Beach fire fighters starting with his grandfather as a volunteer in 1920's, his father as a volunteer in 1960's and then as a career firefighter in 1970 & 1980's. His brother, uncles and cousin also served as volunteers in the LBFD.  He has been a member of Engine 2342 since joining the department and rose through the ranks to become the Chief of the Department from 2017-2019.  During his time a s Chief he instituted changes in training, procedures and administration and making advancements in bringing membership up to national/state standards.  He has served as Commissioner since 2021 and dedicates many hours to the LBFD, improving overall dedication of members and safety to community.

Scott Kemins

Commissioner Scott Kemins joined the Long Beach Fire Department on October 12th, 1980. He has held the position of Chief of Department four separate times, and was the youngest elected chief on record, first being elected to the position of 231B at the age of 26. Commissioner Kemins was awarded the Nassau County Bronze Medal of Valor in 1990 for saving the life of a fire victim at the Old Brighton Hotel. Since joining the department, he has been assigned with Rescue Company One and is a New York State Critical Care Technician. He has been awarded numerous awards and citations throughout his career and holds many certifications from New York State and the Nassau County Fire Service Academy.

2nd Deputy Commissioner

Scott Glazer

Commissioner Glazer joined the Long Beach Fire Department in May 1984 and was assigned to the Rescue Company.  He became an Advanced Life Support Critical Care Technician in 1988 and served as Lieutenant and Captain of the Rescue Company.  He recently retired from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.  He has received multiple commendations, holds numerous training certifications and is a member of a Federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team.

Michael Brecciano

Commissioner Brecciano joined the Long Beach Fire Department on July 14, 1982 and was assigned to Engine Company 1. Two years later he was Lieutenant, and proceeded to serve in the ranks of Captain and Assistant Chief of Department.  An inordinate amount of fire duty in the City of Long Beach—along with countless courses at the Nassau County Fire Service Academy—systematically prepared him for a career as a firefighter and officer in the FDNY. Over the past forty years, he has received numerous certifications for training and commendations for life-saving activities. In one instance, he pulled two members out of a flashover on Ohio Avenue, remarkably resulting in no injuries. He has been a New York State Certified Fire Instructor since 2002, and holds a bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degree in education. Grateful for the opportunity, Commissioner Brecciano looks forward to serving in a new capacity and, as always, working with all the members of the department to protect life and property in the City by the Sea.
